Overview

LU RiverFarm Seafood Restaurant, nestled along the calm banks of Km 282 Baroro in Bacnotan, La Union, offers a unique culinary escape for seafood enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. This riverside gem brings fresh, locally sourced seafood straight from its own fish ponds into a menu reflective of the rich Filipino coastal culture. The setting is tranquil, perfect for those seeking to unwind while savoring authentic regional flavors.

The restaurant's menu showcases a variety of enticing dishes such as Buttered Shrimp, Calamari, and the iconic La Union Platter featuring fresh crab and shrimp. Traditional favorites like Sinigang Na Golden Tilapia and Inihaw Na Tilapia connect diners with local heritage, while inventive plates such as the Seafood Hotpot and Fisherman's Platter provide hearty options for communal dining. Complementing these seafood stars are well-loved choices including Fried Spring Rolls, Crispy Fried Pako, and Pinakbet that emphasize garden-fresh vegetables and traditional Filipino recipes.

Dining here offers more than just food—it’s an experience shaped by the serene river views and the warm, often welcoming hospitality of the staff. Guests like Anna C Jones highlight the peaceful riverside ambiance and the freshness of the dishes, although some note inconsistencies in service speed and occasional fluctuations in food quality. The slower pace of service may challenge those on tighter schedules but adds to the laid-back mood for visitors aiming to relax.

That said, the restaurant's operational challenges have been noted—periods of limited seafood availability despite its onsite ponds and variations in dish seasoning hint at management and kitchen inconsistencies over recent months. Despite these, the setting remains a key draw, particularly the option to dine literally over the water, which elevates the dining experience, especially for tourists and families seeking an immersive environment far from urban hustle.

LU RiverFarm seafood appeals primarily to diners who appreciate fresh, locally harvested seafood paired with rustic charm. It suits those who value atmosphere as much as the meal—ideal for families, couples, and travelers looking for a peaceful meal enriched by natural beauty. The restaurant’s location in La Union also makes it a refreshing stop for regional visitors eager to explore authentic Filipino coastal cuisine beyond typical city offerings.

In sum, LU RiverFarm Seafood Restaurant offers a genuine taste of the Philippines’ rich riverine and marine bounty, set against a soothing backdrop that invites guests to slow down and enjoy a meal rooted in local culture. With continued attention to service and consistency, it holds promise as a cherished spot for seafood lovers seeking tranquility by the water’s edge.

Our visit to River Farm in La Union was enjoyable, thanks to its tranquil riverside setting and warm, accommodating staff. The food was fresh and flavorful, though it is priced on the higher side, and the waiting time was slightly longer than expected. Nonetheless, it’s a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful meal by the river.

Liked the food and ambiance, what I didn't like is the slow serving time and slow network signal (hard to do cashless payments) and some crew are not happy to be there

We waited for more than an hour before our order was served. Food taste was ok but i think they have small servings considering that it’s pricey. Ambience was poor also for me, the river smells bad.

Review update: Unfortunately the service, food and availability of seafood is declining in the past few months. You can call yourself lucky if all dishes on the menu are available, but the most shocking was that they ran out of Tilapia even with big fish ponds on the premises. The quality of the dishes depending on the cook, the dish tastes different at any given visit in the past, until to a degree that we couldn’t eat the dishes because it was totally over salted. Service is slow and partially unfriendly. We have to reduce our rating according the experience of the last 3 month from 4 to ONLY 2. Initial Review: Hidden place on the river, relaxing and quiet. Friendly staff, fresh seafood right from the pond. All the time we come here we order Kilawing, they prepare it like we want it, spicy with calamansi. If they would only add some coriander. The shrimp with ampalya are great, so are the calamaris. Unfortunately only 1 CR directly next to the kitchen

Food was really good. I recommend the fried Bangus, fish. And if American the fried chicken. It was hot so be sure to order the fresh coconut juice after your done drinking they cut it open so you can eat it. Amazing view of the river/water extra table charge if you want to eat on top of the water.
